Final Art

I was up early ish after catching up on the final Silent Witness episode of the series. No spoilers … but … at last …

H and I were out early for a short, pre-art stroll across a frozen Rec. The car required de-icing – the early morning was very chilly. 2°C all the way to Newbury but 10°C by the time I drove home at 12.30.

The early morning drive beside the Thames at Pangbourne was stunningly beautiful as a low mist hovered over the surface of the river disguising the lower outlines of boats and trees so they were confusing to the eye.

Further along the route, I was struck by the bleached-straw colours of the low lying fields (the ones that were not flooded) as the frost overlaid the winter-tired grass.

At the art class, we were each given ice cubes, some were coloured, one if mine contained a tiny frozen flower to use as inspiration?? I experienced little of that. I now know what I should have done with the cubes but ideas escaped me.
Eventually I added some green brusho to the drops.

Above is my final short study . I won’t embarrass myself by showing you what I did next. Suffice it to say, I now have better ideas how to develop it. I may have a go tomorrow.

I’m only just beginning to get my head round this type of art. I may even return in the autumn, if I can get on top of the logistics. Sally does not have classes through the summer. I might even finish my collage from a couple of weeks ago. I have spent too long working from reality and probably need more of this sort of thing leading into the abstract.

I came home and had a salad and snooze.

Later, I examined my Airfryer which has not been used since the house move, over four years ago now. It is a French purchase and I had to send off to an EU to UK plug adaptor; mine are all the other way round. And then I used it to reheat some bean stew. This tasted good and was caramelised ( not burnt) by the time I retrieved it.
Family gave me money at Christmas with which to update the Airfryer or to go on a cookery or art course.
I’ve spent ages recently, researching current air fryers which do so much more than my vintage version, which was once top of the range. A two drawer one would be good, But many are meant for families and far too large for my needs. I can’t see myself wanting to cook a whole chicken in one. So I may stick with what I have. For the time being at least.

Pen and Dave seem to be having a wonderful time in Morocco, visiting the Atlas Mountains yesterday.

DCI has gone to NI on a work jaunt.

I was up at 05.30 again this morning, and started a planned clear out of the freezer. I will do a little more each Wednesday night/ Thursday morning because the food bin is emptied every Thursday when the bin operatives visit. Today, amongst other mysterious items, I removed some frozen ice lollies that have been lurking since before T died, and I discovered frozen dog food, which H will get ( unfrozen) over the next few feeds. More next week.

This required me to make a trip outside. I had intended to swim this morning, and I may yet do so, but heavy frost will require long treatment to defrost the car. And a drive via icy roads. So the current plan is to swim mid afternoon. However energy levels are usually dipping by then.

I have a new art project to attempt – painted Easter egg baubles for Tina at Easter. I also ordered crochet wool for when those classes start.
