Very Quiet

Quiet – Except for a squeaking fire alarm and a door bell that rings when no one is there.

I slept quite well. Awoke. Got up. Sat around.

I prepared some beans and almost burnt them in the instant pot. Not enough water. I rinsed them and set up the Boston baked beans recipe to slow cook for hours. Not impressed with this aspect of the Instant pot because the pot never seemed to reach a sensible temperature. I will caramelise the lot in the oven tomorrow. I did not want to pressurize them again.

It was sunny. H needed a walk so off we went. It was lovely out and we sat on a bench absorbing the sun. But very cold first thing.

Waitrose cauliflower soup for lunch with additional broccoli and carrots and green beans.

Then the door bell went off on one again and kept ringing itself repeatedly. This sent H bonkers, and me too. I removed it and cleaned its face and put it on to charge. I will relocate it outside tomorrow. I did not want any more self ringing through the night like yesterday. If that tactic does not sort it, next is to switch it off at the mains for a few minutes.

Salad supper with avocado.

Lots of good viewing on a Sunday night which I omitted to watch. Frittered the afternoon watching two films : Love Sarah – excellent and Chocolat – also excellent except I noticed Harvey Weinstein’s name on the credits.

Lovely pics from Pen in Marrakech with Dave. Brought back lovely memories of my time there with T over one new year. Over twenty years ago. We stayed in a beautiful Riad in the Medina and constantly got ourselves lost. You had to wander through the Souks to reach it, and the Medina alleyways were narrow and like a warren. It was pot luck whether we found our way back each evening. And we made plenty detours up the wrong passage ways which all looked the same. The Roberts are doing things in 5* style.
But our Riad was very beautiful and off the main tourist drag and in the centre of Marrakech life.

Thought for the Day

I was there once … pics received from Pen

But not in one of these … the vehicle that took them round Marrakech

Our Riad was not quite as lovely!
