Not a great night… but hey… onwards and upwards. On another wet, miserable day, it was around 04.30 when I woke up.
And made tea. Lovely ginger and lemon tea which has temporarily supplanted coffee in my affections – a Christmas tea pigs gift.
We could go nowhere because I needed to be in for the windscreen technicians who turned up mid morning, but by then, in pouring rain. This, is of course, meant that my windscreen could not be replaced. But the nice lead man explained there was no danger of the thing caving in. And that the worst that could happen would be that the crack would lengthen. I can still use wipers and heater etc.
So I bade them farewell. I am rescheduled for Monday.
Then the whole roof caved in. Ali is bedridden with Dave’s nasty lurgy (flu, proper super duper flu). So they are short staffed over there.
Their 3rd car, the one F uses, was having work done by the garage, now finished, who needed to get the car back to the school so F could use it at the end of the school day.
Now I was released from windscreen duties, which meant I was available to meet the nice garage, repair, executive chauffeur, as he returned the car to school. The garage staff were being very helpful, but they didn’t have enough numbers to do the full return trip without help. The help became me. Meanwhile, Fleur met us outside school to pick up the keys and I drove the garage, executive, chauffeur back to his garage at Tidmarsh.
All very complicated? Yes. I can quite understand if you got lost in the plot. It was thickened because F had important things to attend to after school.
Job done.
I may have forgotten to mention that I had loaded H into the back of my car, so I took her for a blow in the rain and the wind. She was not entirely appreciative. And it was very short.
I came home and had soup with floating broccoli islands. Green pea soup that is.
I missed out on a chunk of the afternoon. Waking in time for avocado salad.
The day has been a pretty sedentary , dull and horrid day.
Art tomorrow. The tutor wanted us to record a 45 second video in preparation. But I have found some vids in my photos album. I’m really not enjoying these classes. Last one next week. Thank goodness. I will not be enrolling for a further five weeks. It’s not about drawing , despite being titled: Experimental Drawing.
I’m also finding it too much of a scramble to get H properly sorted, and myself there for 10.00. Dark mornings and unreliable roadworks, unreliable traffic and poor weather don’t help. And there is too much ‘stuff’ to cart backwards and forwards each week. No wonder many of the other participants bring wheeled crates or cases. And as for triple whammy: road works en route, Pinchington Lane closure and roadworks at the Base… and then parking can be a problem. I didn’t really anticipate ALL these problems. Should have done- it is the U.K.
The February crochet class is at 13.00 which should be a whole lot easier. and only involves carrying a crochet hook and a ball of wool. I hope. I will also have plenty of time to walk H before setting off.and possibly swim as well.
Thought for the Day

They lie – fake photos… I never come out looking like that. These ladies have skin problems … wrinkles? Where are you?
