At last I had a good night’s sleep, having caught up with the Traitor’s that I had dozed through yesterday.
No swimming because I had to be at home for the windscreen repair. But the repairers rang soon after 8.00 to say they had the screen but no trim had been sent. So the repair was postponed until next Tuesday.
It was probably just as well, because the morning was consumed by various deluges if biblical proportions .
DCI was poorly and Ali had put in two requests: the first that I walk Minnie and once I knew the screen repair was not happening, I was able to do that. And the second that I take George to play hockey at Oxford Hawks. Not a great way to spend an evening given the weather forecast. And that is where I am now while G trains.
The morning was utterly awful but the dogs and I manfully strode around Cholsey meadows becoming utterly soaked in the process. I chucked the ball for Minnie to give her a bit of extra exercise. Then I bundled the two wet dogs into the car and dropped Minnie home.
I then decided to eat my main meal of plaice, in the early afternoon. This was because I would be out from 18.00 onwards. I may have had a little doze after disposing of the fish and salad. The soup will be a real treat to eat this evening. Perhaps treat is too strong a word. Maybe I will have fruit salad instead.
By early afternoon, Sod’s Law dictated that it was sunny, albeit briefly. At least the roads would have a chance to dry out, a river had been running across Streatley Traffic lights when I was out and about earlier.
I will miss my Traitors’ text session with Eleanor this evening. It is the penultimate episode of this interesting study in human psychology. All good fun.
In the meantime, on Crete, Luis soldiers on. I have now seen him on camera and he seems remarkably content, bright-eyed and curious for such a poorly dog.
Well it was around 22.30 when I arrived home after my trip to Oxford with G. He ended up playing for a ladies’ team in a delayed match, which they won. Now – how come G played for a ladies team? Well… their GK was injured in the warm up. The match was already a rescheduled one and the visitors, anxious to get the match completed, agreed to let G play. There are rules about such manoeuvres , something to do with age etc. But as a 15 year old boy he was allowed to play. I’m not sure they were expecting a skilful 15 year old 6 footer.
This explains our late return. Fruit salad followed and it was scrumptious. Banana, orange and raspberry is a yummy mixture especially with yogurt and Granola on top.
I staggered my way through Traitors. Boy! What an episode.
Out There on ITVX is a good watch. Martin Clunes stars.
