The day started off extremely windy and wet -or so it seemed when I peered out of the window. I had battled for sleep once again. This time it was down to the lovely thick hotel pillows. I sleep best with very little pillow . And I just could not get this pair of pillocks to cooperate. How ever I arranged them or swapped them, it made no difference. I even tried sleeping on just a corner of one, to no avail.
In the end, I stacked them so my body was more upright and I had a few late hours of Kip. The opposite to my preferred sleeping position.
I was extremely taken aback by the strength of the wind, never mind the heavy rain, when I took H out. I was almost soaked in less than the minute it took her to do a wee.
My dry robe would be required once more- what a good thing yesterday’s rain was mere drizzle compared with what was landing today.
The sea was no longer merely turbulent, it was chaotic and evil.
I ate my breakfast considering whether to add an extra day to my stay because tomorrow would be similar. Badly flooded roads, I did not relish. So I added an extra day.
My next consideration was Heidi. Despite the awfulness of the great outdoors, she would need a bit of a wander. Somewhere.
Mu inclination was to try Tywyn with its long and wide marine parade: the sea would be far enough away, if I went early, so I would not be attacked by rocks etc the sea might be hurling landward. I had seen the results of a previous occasion lining the new marine parade. I had even photographed it.

This was on the sunny day and at the time I thought I would not like to be around when the sea was chucking these around.
A day like today for example.

When we arrived at the sea front at Tywyn, there was only one car there. On a Saturday. I soon realised why, as I felt the wobbly rocking motion of the car. I could barely open the door and as for getting H out…
I was worried the car would blow over and seriously worried I would be blown over too. I have never known such strong wind and the rain was piercing and sharp. And heavy. I tried to exercise H there but gave up. She didn’t like it at all and appeared in a state by of shock.
Maybe a walk in the lower hotel grounds would work, but I decided to try Aberdovey first because distant memories reminded me it was always more sheltered.
And yes, in Aberdovey, the wind was less strong, but the rain was just as heavy. The dry robe worked a treat keeping me dry and nicely channeling the rain into my trainers and catching the ends of my leggings.
But we were able to walk along the marine walkway there and H ran out the full length of the extra long lead. At Tywyn the lead had turned into a twisted narrow bit of tape whipped into a big curve by the strength of the wind. Here H was able to reach the beach debris and do all her sniffing.
Aberdovey :

We made it back to the hotel where I decided my dryrobe, which was not dry , could sit in the bath along with other wet stuff which filled the bathroom. I found a towel for H to lie on.
Eventually, I decided I was hungry and ordered a prawn salad and coffee to eat in the doggy lounge.
How genteel and quaint is this? Delicious too- and a pot of coffee as opposed to a cup. And a massive salad. I do like this hotel.

And I enjoyed the sea view.

I abandoned the doggy lounge to go to the loo. And fell asleep for only a short while. Not in the loo, in the bedroom. So no swim today. 1. I didn’t feel like taking my clothes off. 2. I didn’t want to get soaked going to and from the pool.
So the afternoon passed quite nicely between a book and catching up on my early puzzles. The wind had calmed a little and the rain took a few breaks. Out of the wind it was no longer cold – around 14C I am told.
Tomorrow and Monday are forecast to be windy but hopefully they will be less wet.
