Brenda

A reasonable night passed once I awoke in the armchair and took myself to bed.

In the morning, I had a bit of a domestic mess to sort out, as I discovered, when I went walk about. No time to swim today, or tomorrow probably. Today, Brenda came for lunch, and also for some Christmas activity.

I did the sorting out, or some of it, eyed up my art homework that was going wrong, and sorted my art workshop into some sort of order so that Brenda would have workspace.

The sun has reappeared today, a not very enthusiastic sun, but the brightness it bestowed was very welcome.

The CH engineer telephoned to say the digistat he ordered had not reached whoever he gets it from, and he was asking if I wanted to change the appointment to a different day. This seemed entirely sensible, so we agreed on Wednesday afternoon. I also mentioned the kitchen tap, and he will see if he can fix it or organise someone else if he cannot.

All good so far. Time to take H off for a quick spin around Cholsey Meadows.

By the time I arrived home, Brenda was nearly here, so we then sat with our coffee and discussed the task in hand, the world, Trump, Strictly, and everything else that required our opinion.

I had made a leek, potato and tomato soup for lunch: Delicious or what! Brenda added bread and smoked mackerel and along with cheese, we were soon replete, and back to our crafting.

She left soon after 3pm. I eyed up the dead leaves littering the garden and noticed there are only a few more to drop from the horse chestnut tree. Wednesday might be a good day to do gardening. Get a bin full of garden matter and then the refuse technical people will remove it all on Thursday. The grass is also looking dangerously long which is extremely annoying. Autumn has been mild so far- the probable reason for its over- enthusiastic growth. .

My new (flat pack plastic) compost bin has arrived. Yet another job to do. Maybe before I go away next week. It came by Royal Mail, but not through the letter box. And a really lovely young post guy manhandled it into the house. He can visit again.

I had a Jamie Oliver recipe/idea for supper. I won’t be doing that again. As you have probably worked out, it didn’t exactly fill me with deliciousness. But then I could probably adapt so it tastes decent. The concept was good.

The evening came and went and I ended up in bed at a sensible time.

Thought for the Day
