A lovely day so far with no rain and plenty of warmth but with a breeze. Just how I like it.
I did not sleep that well but arose to do some tidying up before Loren arrived. And then I was off for my swim. It started off fairly unpleasant because the slow lane was busy with very very slow swimmers. In particular the pair who are slower than slow but who never willingly give way to someone who is faster. They arrive at the end and then you do, a finger touch behind. And then they push off just to thwart you.
My friendly acquaintance remarked that she must think they are swimming a relay and wait for you to touch to allow them to set off.
There were other slow coaches too. I almost got out, but persevered and then they got out.
H was pleased to see me when I arrived home. Loren had texted me to say she would arrive a bit later. We had a brief chat when she did arrive – her house sale now seems sorted so I will miss her when she moves.
H and I had a lovely walk back in Lower Basildon where H did quite a lot of paddling on the little beach there. It was very quiet – the only evidence of other humans apart from one and his dog were the picnic blanket and belongings of some absent humans who must be off paddle boarding somewhere.

I then went up to Root One for a prawn salad and a fizzy water and another plant pot for the remnants of yet another long gone pre- planted arrangement.
Of course the swim and the walk had devoured my energy so I needed recovery time of my own. Which is how I passed much of the rest of the day once I had carried out my watering duties.
Tracey and co have departed on holiday for a couple of weeks leaving Wendy in charge of their chickens. Goodness knows where their cats are and I know the dogs get farmed out and about.
Today feels a bit fraught – I’ve a 90th birthday to attend in Wantage where parking is limited. Why book a place in the middle of a town centre which has no parking of its own? And as far as I can see there are only 60 long stay spaces available in the whole town, the rest being time limited. I’ve booked a private apace via Just Park, but it’s not ideal.
Late this evening, I have to pick up Fleur from somewhere to be advised and time also to be advised. That is all dangerous territory. I shall have to set alarms.
Next week is forecast to be hot which will mean early doggy walks… Minnie is staying for a while. The duration of the Illis Norwegian holiday.
