Yes another baking hot day. So hot, that one of my courgette plants took on a real droop and I had to rush out with emergency water.
I was up and out for our early walk around 06.00. H was able to dash around the meadows at Cholsey. There were plenty of other early risers, mostly with dogs or jogging.
I managed to hang the washing out before going for my swim . I had thoughtfully stripped the bed and filled the machine before going out.
The swim was an absolute joy. The pool felt cool and refreshing and it was not busy. So thoroughly enjoyable. And despite it being 27C outside, it did not feel overpoweringly hot. Things were different by the time I arrived home. But the washing was nearly dry.
I dealt with sone legal matters to do with wills and estates etc. That required brain pain. Time for toast and another cup of coffee.
I may have had a little dozy patch after my coffee and toast. That was refreshing too and much needed.
I awoke to see one of my courgette plants had developed a serious floppiness. I had nearly drowned it yesterday so it must be a bit of a dipsomaniac. It is in recovery now. Later, as I took the hose for a wander, I noticed my bush tomato plant was suffering similar thirst.

Memo to self: buy some bark to resist evaporation. I’ll be away from Friday until Sunday night. Serious measures are needed.
The afternoon drifted on and the heat sizzled. H is in and out again.
Tomorrow we are promised cooler air. Thank goodness. With any luck, it will be swim first, walk later.
I retrieved H from the dark of outside and closed up all the doors and put myself to bed.
Thought for the Day
