The weather was tedious today, dull grey and boring, quite Misty too at the start of the day. I heard rumbles of thunder in the early hours and was notified of lightning strikes a few km to the south. I was awake for an hour or so in the night and then dozed off until nearly 07.30.
I missed any storm that occurred although I can see rain fell. Plenty of poodles as evidenced.
My left heel is still very painful, making walking uncomfortable. It’s right at the back where the Achilles tendon is. Whether it’s a strain or a bruise I have no idea, but it hurts. Poppy has advised me that the Achilles tendon is probably responsible.
We limped around Cholsey Meadows. Today H found the reed bed utterly fascinating and traversed it noisily and squelchily a few times, becoming quite wet. There were ducks about but she failed to find their nest. Tadpoles dawdled in the clear waters. It was quite warm, but also a miserable day.
I prepped the veg for my briam meal and stuck it in the oven on a low heat while I went swimming. When I got back, I turned the heat up and ate it an hour later. Very good.
The pool was like Piccadilly Circus when I arrived, but the traffic slowly took itself out and it was peaceful at the finish. My 1 km was completed.

I sat around for a bit before going to vote for the local Police and Crime commissioner – at around 19.00. The poll station staff informed me that they had only had 55 people bothered to vote. Since none of the candidates posted flyers through our letter box, I don’t suppose it is surprising. I found out about them online – just as good I suppose, if you are aware of this opportunity.
There followed ladies’ evening at the Beetle and Wedge where about 6 turned up. Quite a disappointment after the initial meeting. But it was actually very nice because I was able to get to know the people who were there, as well as catch up on a fair bit of local gossip. I arrived home after 22.30!!! And one bottle of sparkling water…so a cheap evening.
It seems that I have done the right thing limiting contact with W and B because they plague others around by lurking to gossip and knocking on doors. They’ve given up trying our door or engaging me in needless chit chat. Christine, opposite, has even had inner gates installed to stop them wandering round to the back.
Thought for the Day
Somewhat random

Even more of a twerp than he used to be …

And that was in Britwell cum Sotwell, just up the road.
Tories seem to have had a walloping.
