Spring Again

published late

I had a good evening in the chair followed up by the left overs in bed. I awoke after 06.00. Again. Outside, the sky was looking hopeful with scattered clouds- perhaps we would be treated to another Spring-like day.

H could barely bring herself to the back door and then she just sat outside it. But I had swimming to do so she was invited back inside.

I forgot to check that my watch had actually charged itself up whilst nestled in my drawer, overnight. I later realised that it must have fallen off its charger. But I only realised that later.

It was a decent swim and I managed to do half of it swimming front crawl. Another triumph.
But my watch went flat after around 750m which was very annoying.
The pool was populated by able swimmers and then by slow sluggy ones. And then by the ladies who really needed to be in the coffee cafe area because all they did was walk up and down and chatter. Not just one pair, but another pair arrived later. Hmm…

At home, I rid myself of eau de chlorine, and sat around for a bit before departing to complete various errands and to walk H.

By now the day was pleasantly warm and the clouds were high enough for me not to feel threatened by rain. I picked up medicine from the docs and decided that I would risk walking at Pangbourne.
It was only a few days ago that there were pools of water lying in the meadows. Today I decided to use the pay car park which was a good idea because there, there was no water lying in wait. The mud was drying out nicely, and would dry out even better if the authorities authorised the use of a mower. (And I have met their great big mower a few times last year. ) Then the sun would penetrate the lush grass and dry the ground more rapidly.
It was lovely out there, warm, sunny and families were having fun, and a few crazy people were even testing out the effluent that populates the river these days. The water was fast flowing and no boats were on the water. I believe there is some sort of red warning system which means boats have to lay up. I have no idea if this is the current situation. Update on current conditions below:

It was warm out there, 20C, though the car tried to tell me it was 25C. We returned home for some lunch which only encouraged extended relaxation.

I awoke with a jump to enjoy the evening because Beyond Paradise beckoned. Gentle stories involving Humphrey (and Martha) from Death in … . Comfort watching.

I tottered to bed and fell into another solid sleep until 04.00 when I had to deal with the bean (et al) mountain I had demolished the night before.

Now I’m wide awake at 05.00.

Thought for the Day
