Back to weather words now that the pages have turned on the last few days. This morning, I awoke to blue skies and bright sunshine. But when I opened the back door, I realised the sun was deceptive because outside was 1. Windy, and 2. Very chilly.
H investigated briefly and we both went back to bed, myself with a hot drink.
The deceptiveness was allowed to continue and I donned a pair of scruffy old shorts so my knees could enjoy fresh air. And I added about three woolly jumpers.
After not a little while, and some flexing, I arose for good and H and I walked at Cholsey Meadows where the ponds are shrinking. My knees did not suffer frostbite. But my nose did.
You can see the high water mark.

After our chilly trip round the ponds, I made a dash to Lidl. I have not been there for a while, but I know Lidl often sell cheap garden compost and have a selection of cheap bedding plants. The ones I have bought here before have always grown well.
I can tick off compost but there was not much choice in bedding plants but I bought a few. I have a lot of pots to sort out. Plants to trim and repot , to fertilise and weed. And peonies that need holes. And so on.
I will need more compost but I can only buy 20kg sacks so I can move them around. The wheel barrow is dead and I’m not sure I want a replacement.
I also need warmer weather. Anyway I manhandled my purchases into the back garden and there they all sit, expectantly, awaiting my attention.
The patio needs a clean. And a few dead leaves linger on.
I frittered the afternoon which was quite nice after a busy week.
I watched a 2004 film called Belonging starting Brenda Blethyn and Anna Massey. And I must not forget Kevin Whately whose character was a twerp.
Then I turned my attention to Fiona Bruce investigating the true story of the parachute attempted murder and involving coercive control – even from a prison cell. Quite interesting. And add a double Casualty. I was quite a couch potato.
