Unexciting

The weather excited me a little this morning when I was out with H because it was sunny and warm. But as we were strolling back to the car, the day changed its mind about being warm and welcoming and the clouds rolled in and dullness descended. So it became unexciting.

I had not slept well. No idea why not, but there was a restless, wakeful period. I overcame it and drifted off, waking around 06.00. I flexed and arose.

H and I wandered around Cholsey ponds, studying the reflections in the absence of ducks. H decided to have a little roll in the grass by the pond. Apart from evidence of the presence of a mole, or invisible fox, I decided there was little danger from her rolling in clean and recently mowed grass.

That will ‘learn’ me. She appeared with her back fluffy hair all covered in some mysterious sticky slime. Of unknown origin. Too sticky for spawn or slobber. But nevertheless, unpleasant and very unattractive. I didn’t have time to take her home to clean her up because I had to drive to Southrop to meet Anne for munch. Or even lunch.
I scrubbed H with one of the car dog towels but I couldn’t shift the slime, bits of it stuck to anything with which it came into contact.

I gave up and met Anne for lunch.

This was very pleasant except we were a bit squashed for space with the two dogs, (one sticky one to be avoided at all costs) and their tables for two are quite small. It was much more pleasant today than on a Sunday when it gets really busy. The chair was quite low which gave me ‘left buttock discomfort’ syndrome. But I’m really whinging about nothing.
However Heidi was a totally embarrassing sight – her fur clumped together, the slime visible. I had to warn staff not to be nice to her, and of course, Daisy was all pristine and clean.

We had a smooth drive home. And then I scrubbed at H with a very wet towel in the hope I could clean her up. I did not use the hose because I needed time to get to Waitrose to shop for 3 of the Illis tomorrow.

Which is what I did next. Back home again, I prepared a pud for tomorrow and relaxed. And we know what that means. Until just before 22.00…

Thought for the Day

Interesting concept… from Japan.
