We have had a dry day. A day not over blessed with sunshine, but one without rain. Small steps towards summer.
What a sleep, apart from a short comfort break, it was the alarm that awoke me around 07.00. Unheard of. But then I did fall asleep in the chair after my sprouts.
H decided to take me to the monthly Moulsford Coffee morning. So she carefully walked me across the Rec, to the Pavilion, studiously avoiding the pitch where locals play the latest sport … floating football.

But the pitch is shrinking. The coffee morning was very well attended so that they had to hunt out more chairs- very pleasant.
H led me back across the Rec and home.
By then it was almost time to get going for my swim . Today the pool was as wet as ever, and very quiet and I soon completed my quota of lengths. I had a cunning plan- to go straight on to the dreaded Slimming World. Unfortunately, I had remembered clothes, but not shower gel so I showered, but shared eau de chlorine with everyone I was anywhere near.
I wish I hadn’t gone to SW because I appear to have reacquired 2lb which is a bit of an annoying nuisance.
I then had to pay a call in at the surgery but I received a message via the NHS app which I wanted to read in case it was something I could resolve whilst there. It wouldn’t open and told me I needed to log in all over again using email and password. As if… At least that was a bit better than a blank page which is what I started off with.
The helpful receptionist suggested that I should switch my phone off. Good advice! Bingo ! Its sanity was restored. No need for password etc. The message proved to be nothing but a request to complete a survey as to the quality of the surgery’s dispensing service and prescribing etc.
I could only grade them as excellent! They were brilliant over T’s prescriptions.
Oh dear! How many more deaths can there be? Alex’s friend’s mother died around a week ago after a sudden and horrendous illness. This GP friend was so supportive over Tony and all he went through.
Alison, a neighbour opposite, has been taken somewhere, probably never to return, suffering from widespread cancer.
And Janet, a very kind local person, well I have a feeling her husband, Breyal, has died during a trip South Africa, where they work supporting a local church. I don’t have the story but a group email suggested as much. She was very kind just after T died, which was three months ago today, a Wednesday evening too.
Time to return home.
Dave called by during the evening, to collect some of their ski gear from the loft. Ali is off on a long weekend trip with two university friends to join a 4th friend who lives near Geneva. Sounds fun!
I’ll make do with my trip to Dunster, for the time being. And I’ve signed myself out of Slimming World for that week.
Thought for the Day
Three months on…
