Rewarding

Yes… the weather rewarded us today for being patient through the heavy rain and other misery that was yesterday. We started with sun, which transformed to warmer sun and then to rain. But more sun vanquished the rain and the afternoon and evening were beautiful.
It is also Mothering Sunday and I have been spoiled in all directions… garments from Pen, the art course from Ali, lunch out from Dave, and a jasmine ( in memory of what would have been 53 years of married life) from Pen.

It has been a great weekend, here in Devon, and H and I have been thoroughly spoiled. I slept quite well apart from a stuffy nose which is not unusual. Not helped by the fact I had forgotten my usual nose spray.

I was up around 07.00 and took H out onto the sponge which is the garden. It was a lovely morning and the estate was looking good with its daffs in flower whilst the pool was very tempting. Ha ha.

I was spoilt for brekky with scrambled egg in a bagel – at home it would just have been the scrambled egg.
Pen took H for a longish ramble where she managed to fit her routine paddle in, and they both returned very excited and pleased with themselves.

We enjoyed a lovely coffee sitting out in the sun in the garden area surrounding the pool. It must be glorious in the summer. Dartmoor beckons in the distance.

Evie arrived looking like she was a spring version of Father Christmas bearing gifts for Pen from her family …

And then we gathered up H and walked up the road to the pub where they were busy, but produced a a magnificent lunch. H accompanied us to deal with anything we could not manage to eat. It was all very delicious, thank you Dave. A raclette was discussed for the evening but the idea was quickly abandoned due to full tummies.

The rest of the day passed in a bit of a blur… it involved the Durrells and wonderful Greece and a bit of the Great Pottery Throw Down. The final.

H didn’t seem too bothered about eating her bowl of kibble last night probably because she too, politely and gratefully, enjoyed a roast dinner. Too full of meat scraps and gravy covered roasties I suspect.

It was a lovely day… thank you rewarding weather.

Thought for the day
