Hockey Day

A very good night’s sleep and an 05.00 cup of coffee sorted me nicely as another grey day emerged from undercover of darkness. It was not raining!
But it was chilly, which was reflected in H declining to investigate the garden.
We both enjoyed a bit of a lie in before unloading the dishwasher and dealing with laundry.
And then we were ready to go out for our shortish walk and socialise with other dogs and their people. H enjoyed a paddle, and I noticed that a causeway, between two of our ponds, was now drowned. H chose our route today.

I could hear a generator at work – something to do with Thames water and SSE I think who have been fiddling around the old Fairmile Asylum site for days now. The generator is tucked round by the allotments. The nearby house occupiers must be feeling irritated by its constant hum.

There was also a mysterious hole occupied by what looks like a pump-in-waiting and an unwrapped sidekick, carelessly tossed in beside it.

We finished our walk and drove to pick up Fleur to take her to someone’s house for a lift to her hockey match in Oxford. Then I drove to Hithercroft to watch Ali running around the hockey pitch, and Dave umpiring. That was the warm up act.
And then the main act – George playing in goal for the men’s first team, which they won 4-2. George did some really good moves but looked so small ( which he is not) in the goal compared with the opposition hunk who seemed so huge he occupied most of the goal mouth.
But – great match George! Brave too!

And changing the subject, here is his latest 3D printing triumph – a nerf gun of no small dimensions.

Ali has been researching the North West online, and unearthed a couple of articles about, and a photo of, my father. Dr John Benstead… one work related, and the other golf related. I’m sure that bag he is carrying was my old hockey bag which he appropriated for various loose work related items. He would never fritter money. Doh!

So there we are.
