Saturday? Or Friday?

Another reasonable night, some of it asleep until just before 05.00. Then- a cup of coffee. And a think. To swim or not to swim? Well it was Saturday wasn’t it? My day off?

But it wasn’t Saturday, it was Friday. So I checked out the swimming for fitness blocks and aimed for 07.50. I would be home early.
It was dark when I set off and there was no spectacular sunrise. I couldn’t see what yesterday’s cowboys had done to Halfpenny Lane.
The pool was pleasantly empty enough and I did my bit of exercise and returned home to a waggy doggy.
I was not in a hurry to be off and out for a walk, but the empty grocery cupboard suggested a trip to Waitrose might be a good idea.
We walked at Castle Meadows . I haven’t been here for several weeks because of the treacherous many-cratered approach. The craters were empty of water so lacked deception but had plenty of depth. The mud was reduced. The sky was cloudy.
But noisy waspish creatures with pinkish knees littered the meadows. The ones that were moving were huffing and puffing and there were a lot of them. A more bulky manly figure exhorted the groups as he he tried to lead them. A less manly figure dossed on a bench and muttered words of encouragement. After a while, they mustered and clustered around the less manly person. And disappeared back to the nest from which they had emerged.

The snowdrops were no rival.

Waitrose car park was more than heaving and spaces were hard to come by. A combination of local market day and salaries in their pockets day I think.
I had 3 bags of shopping! I think I got carried away again.
But it gave me an opportunity to give the fridge a good clear out and put things on the shelves I wanted them to be on. After nearly two months. Perhaps they will stay there. In clearing it out, I found all sorts of curiosities. Now in a black bag.

The rest of the day was spent sitting, dozing and reading. I did catch up with the first episode of the Apprentice. I don’t really like this programme because it’s full of plastic and unconsciously incompetent people stuffed full of Botox. They made an unbelievably awful mess of the set task.

Thought for the Day
