Thursday Treats

I slept quite well and have done since I have been here. Not always in the right place though. Last night, I survived until most of the way through Traitors but missed the last few minutes. I caught up with them later.
Penny had prepared my bed very nicely for me with a hotty, and I am now under strict instructions not to fall asleep downstairs again.

Easier said than done.

Pen took H for a short walk (for Pen) and we intended to take her again later but it did not quite work out. Mainly due to the logistics of getting Evie to and from school, and later, to and from work.

The main focus of the day was nails, manicures and pedicures. I now have very pretty finger nails in a delicate shade with some pearly hints. And you can’t miss my toe nails because they are sparkly crimson. What a treat!

We decided to grab a quick lunch out somewhere but swiftly realised there was not enough time . So we headed, up completely the wrong road, to a farm cafe. It wasn’t where it was supposed to be because we were not on the right road. We eventually made it for soup and a toasty tasty.
And I have not drawn your attention to all the various closed roads that we encountered due to rather spurious roadworks.

Then it was time to collect Evie. Again not straightforward because a local farmer decided to drive a tractor, and its trailer, laden with straw, along the narrow lane just as cars and parents were meeting their children. Clever planning.

We returned back to Applebrook, and I thought I was likely to fall asleep, so I took myself upstairs to avoid annoying people. Of course sleep had fled so I spent a little while catching up on emails and drafting the start of this.
It was soon time to wander up the road to the Nightjar where we enjoyed a lovely evening meal. Fresh plaice and tangy Parmentier potatoes and samphire. Yummy.

Evie is 18 next week and is opting out of big celebrations but I gifted her her family heirloom ring which was well received.

And then, nicely replete, we wandered back home and to bed.

I’ve had a really lovely break here and have been thoroughly spoilt. I shall look forward to returning in the summer to that lovely swimming pool. Never mind the people! Thank you. Home today, probably via Greendale Farm Shop, the A30 and A303.
