I packed in a good sleep early on in the night and then was awake for a bit so I finished ‘After the Flood’ – no spoilers. Thereafter my pinched nerve bothered me but I couldn’t bring myself to fill the hotty that I had brought with me which surely would have relieved the problem.
I arose and showered – or tried to. This is a nice hotel except the over the bath shower is a grave disappointment. The shower head is more or less broken – ie it doesn’t rotate as it should; and the pressure is poor. The water is nice and hot , there is just not enough of it coming out of the shower. Something to mention in the review.
The day started off grim and grey which was a disappointment. But the views from the Coastal Lounge, which is where I had supper last night, are great. Or would be if the weather was better. H has behaved impeccably beside me as I eat, apart from being a bit of a beggar. I am able to leave her loosely tied to a piece or f furniture whilst I go to get fruit or toast.
After brekkie, we headed for Charmouth where fossils abound. I didn’t trouble too much – bending over is no joke these days. By now the sun had just about made it out, even with hints of warmth. I was wrapped up in my dry robe, which was very warm, because I forgot what I had done with my coat. (Left it over the chair in my hotel room). I thought I might have left it in a cafe in West Bay yesterday. But I had not.
So I finally made it to a bench and sat absorbing the warmth of the sun. Earlier, H and I walked over the sands and she found the mudslides and the rocks all very interesting. Flavoursome I suspect. The cliffs are quite dangerous, as the mud peels off and shows what lies beneath, revealing different colours and different stratification.
I then went to Lyme Regis for old times sake – so many holidays spent there in my youth which is a little while ago now.
I haven’t found it easy going to places like West Bay and Lyme Regis, because my last visits there were with T in tow. And quite simply, today, I really missed his presence.
I sometimes wonder where he is. After all he has to be somewhere. I just like to think he might be keeping an eye on me, but at the same time, not be full of regret that he is not with me. I’d rather he is content with his lot. Stupid or what?
Early in the afternoon, I retreated back to the hotel for a little relaxation which was interrupted by a chat with Pen.
It was mostly about wall hung loos and not landing on them too heavily. Sounds ominous.
Supper was very pleasant and held in the coastal lounge again. The hotel seemed quite busy ( but calm) for a Sunday night in mid January. Two ladies and a small dog hogged the fire. They had obviously requested to have their meal there and another couple of ladies had to move elsewhere.
I checked my emails to find I had one that was perceptive and understanding from Andrew. Pen had visited him in Guildford yesterday.
I fell fast asleep more or less as soon as I came to bed. )I had tried to watch CTM but failed.) Until the usual silly o’clock. Then I watched CTM and promptly fell asleep again. Quite a nice day all things considered.
