Norfolk Day 2

I had a bad night because I had to sort out the loo cistern which kept filling with water. It was very easy to sort but the bathroom was on the other side of the bed from me. And T was flushing it every two minutes because of his current desire to cough and spit. On repeat.
Not only disgusting but annoying. But then, I’m not the one with LC.

Breakfast was magnificent! T contented himself with granola, yogurt and fruit, but failed to finish it. Quite healthy though.

The sun shone through before we left. There had been a loud, noisy storm in the night, along with associated heavy rain. Puddles were the order of the day. The tide was high so the muddy banks of yesterday were now glittery and blue.
And people were even swimming.

We headed for Norwich and Broads Tours which were situated in Wroxham. On the way, we stopped at some shopping emporium to purchase a spare pair of jeans for T. We were a bit vulnerable after the coffee and ice cream episode. And rain was forecast. Stained trousers, then wet trousers … we would be down to zero trousers.

The boat tour was a perfect way to spend a couple of hours enjoying the river, meeting the staff who would come with us as well as the other couples. Three sufferers were men, quite frail men, and one was a lady.
Their partners were far more caring than me, I am a more casual carer! But T is less frail. More wheezy though.

The lady is weird … I can’t follow her conversation at all which is a bit awkward. She was a university lecturer and her husband was a life long civil servant (treasury and social something or other). Something important and interesting there. He is slightly reminiscent of a cross between Andrew Wallard and Gandalf with hippy overtones and long flowing facial hair.

I have yet to get to know the individuals better.

Our boat trip was accompanied by an interesting commentary about anything and everything – birds, boats, the waterways etc. Lovely and calming even though rain fell at the end.

We have 4 accompanying staff whose names escape me. Except for Ron who is a serious mountain person. Nothing is too much trouble – helping , steadying hands, carrying luggage, waiting on us, preparing food. They are a good team.
The accommodation is a long converted barn. We have a very comfortable twin room with a walk in shower. Last night the bed was a bit too cosy. Space rules tonight!

T is totally confused but seems to be enjoying himself. He chattered through the boat trip but won’t let me out of his sight without fretting. Or following me. To the loo, for example.

We arrived at the accommodation to find a Waitrose van and large quantities of food being unloaded. A delivery for 12 is quite something!
Supper was concocted from these supplies. T was offered 00beer so he was happy. Along with endless cups of coffee!
We were in bed around 21.00… tiredness won.

Family are looking after H who is not hiding in the corner but is showing a more sociable side to her character. Let’s hope she keeps it up.

Tomorrow we were supposed to be going in a boat to watch seals. But rough waters are forecast, so it has been swapped to Friday. On the advice of the boat company.

A good start.
