I had another good night with the usual early start and then another dose of sleep.
Once T was awake he was agreeable to talking H for a little walk at Pangbourne Meadows.
We changed the bedding first and it was washed before we were ready to depart. Hanging it up was another matter. T is very fussy how washing is hung up. He usually réorganises my efforts. He had offered to help. Sadly, hanging up sheets his another job to added to the list of things he can no longer do.
We have a rotary clothes surer. T was busy trying to spread the fitted sheet horizontally across the whole of it. It was not working for him. In fact it blew off altogether. And he gave up, not bothering with the duvet cover or pillow cases. Having sorted it for him, we were ready to go.
The day had started with a yellow blob in the sky which soon disappeared behind some cloud. For most of the rest of the day. And occasional spots of liquid dropped from the sky. But the washing did dry. Or, more accurately, I rescued it before more liquid fell.
The river was quite busy with people paddling and swimming as well as a variety of watercraft floating backwards and forwards. One particular group were having great fun on one paddle board – about 6 of them. They were trying to stand on it but were spending more time in the water.
Heidi ran around. We bumped into Rosie, a friend of the Syfret’s, who I had not seen for some weeks. And then picked up a few groceries and some fuel.
I cooked lunch – a big dish of cauliflower et al in cheese sauce. T may have eaten his. But he disappeared off to bed.
I watched more of series 1 of World on Fire, made pre pandemic, but not seen by me. We were probably wandering around the country, waiting to move into our house. Or similar. A war series. Quite a good watch. I binged on it well until the late hours. World on Fire … could be a contemporary description.
We have been subjected to news items about the fires on Rhodes and other areas of Greece. It brings to mind the terrible fires of 2018 in and around Rafina. I feel for everyone involved. And remember an Autumn break in Rhodes – just me- while Tina worked, I explored. And got a local bus to Lindos and up the Acropolis there. Beautiful then. Not too many people.
There are new sets of roadworks erected to obstruct me… a weeks worth between here and the Day centre and 6 weeks worth up Streatley Hill.
Thought for the Day
