I did sleep well despite a little wakeful interval around O3.00. I drifted off until 05.00 ish . There was no hurry to get up.
But I needed coffee so went through all the usual routines.
I then made a couple of phone calls including one to the Blue Badge team where I spoke to a helpful lady who could only offer unhelpful answers to my questions. She does not have authority in her own right, she has to refer back to someone else. They play it absolutely by Government guidance so an April 22 assessment is 15 days out of date and won’t do. If I can get it updated, they might accept it.
So next I rang the mental health team in Abingdon. Nigel, the psychiatric nurse was busy, so I have yet to speak to him in case he can help.
I haven’t heard from the Council Tax discount people either.
The wheels move slowly in this part of the country.
I took H for a wander across Streatley Rec and down to the river. I briefly thought about treating myself to a coffee at the Swan but decided to do that later.
Predictably T had not got himself up during my absence, so I chivvied him along so that we could get to Newbury for his chest XRay.
Well it was good to be on home territory. I had cunningly written ‘He has Alzheimer’s, and may not understand instructions’ all over the X ray request paper. This was immediately picked up by the nice receptionist who found our records under our old address. Now updated. Meanwhile T asked for a cup of coffee. The nice receptionist had good understanding, including when T could no longer remember his DOB. Nor the first line of his address.
And the radiographer was equally helpful taking me into her cubicle as the X-ray was done.
And another lady waiting sympathetically commented that she had been there and done that.
We returned via the Swan for that cup of coffee and a 00 beer.
And then home to keep H company for a while, before heading for a treat of a meal out at the B and W. Booked for 17.30. Swan Upping is at around 18.00 at Moulsford, so hopefully we will see something of it. We didn’t see it last year, and of course 2021 was probably still under Covid restrictions. And in July 2020, the Beetle was still being renovated and we did not live here.
It is good how life is slipping back to normal. Yesterday I was asked to give T an LFT before taking him to the GP. It was negative. But they would still have seen him but under different entry etc. How things are different from 3 years ago.
The Open Golf starts today, not that we can watch it. There are also 3 By Elections taking place.
The Swan Uppers arrived in style in a flotilla of boats with swans on their flags. The important people were dressed in red jackets, helpers in blue and white striped tops, and also rans in white. There were 32 of them eating at the B and W.

There were no Swans around but plenty of observers. It was a very pleasant evening. Though the Swan Upppers have fallen foul of some long term Moulsford residents for not mixing more with the locals.
They will have had fun at Caversham Bridge in Reading where a huge colony of swans resides.

I had a strange dream on Thursday night. T and I were renewing our wedding vows with a big second wedding at some fancy venu which was, in reality, a care home. There was another simultaneous wedding going on. My bridesmaids (daughters) were busy with too much to do. The care home residents had gone home for Christmas or similar. Our guests were too interested in some puzzles we had framed and posted on the walls. The tables were not laid. Goodness knows if there would be any food. It was a disaster.
Uxbridge Byelection is a bit of a disaster for Labour. Rather than reflect the Tories’ anti green attitudes I think it reflects personal acute pain over Sadiq Khan’s Ulez charge for non compliant vehicles. £12.50 per day!
The Tories lost out in the other two.
