And no storm or significant rain! Though the afternoon felt as though both would arrive at any moment.
A thought for all the Fathers, those that are still with us and those who are elsewhere. For the children in parts of the world where the life of a father is hard or dangerous.
A reasonable sleep, coverless, followed by a 05.00 wake up. My sleep was mildly interrupted by constant chomping of grapes. All 4 boxes bought on Friday, are now gone. A banana was waved in my face at bedtime.
I got myself and the doggies up and out at around 06.00 and we were off to Pangbourne again. Yesterday’s litter was history because some poor soul had gone around gathering it all up. I hope they had a trailer.
A couple of people with stacked up bottles of water were parked by the Dolphin Adventure Centre. I didn’t think much of it, just assumed it was for kayakers, although I don’t remember kayakers at 06.30 before.
It was a slightly overcast start to the day, a bit humid and definitely warmer than yesterday at 20C. The doggies played and paddled or swam. The boats lay slumped against the river bank, silent metal slugs, and the birds tweeted.

We walked to the far log and back, being mindful that boat people would be asleep. Small groups of walkers dribbled past in twos and threes. I later found out they were part of a 100km walk from Pewsey to Reading, eventually following the Thames path . An all nighter. Not to be confused with Race to The Stones which takes place mid July.
Once home, I prepared some brekkie and then had a long rest. Puzzles etc, and Laura Kuenssberg’s Sunday show prevailed. Along with a couple of YouTube Shorts.
The day is forecast to be shit and stormy in the afternoon. Or even hot and stormy. So despite T’s best efforts, it was not a day to be spent outside over the hills and far away. Not good for the dogs either. Their 3 Michelin star Lidl gourmet days are over – back on routine diet now.
I just pottered in the afternoon. Washing was hung out ahead of the rain, which did not have much substance. The comfy garden furniture provided relaxation opportunities. No watering of the plants because there should be rain to do that for me. The jasmine and other plants need support wires on the fence.
After half an hour , T managed to provide me with a glass of water. After 10 minutes, I presented him with a cup of tea.
The washing dried; Pen rang to add verbal Father’s Day wishes to the cake which is almost gone. I didn’t paint. I’m going to change that red barrel to an upright one.

Thought for the Day
OOPS!
