Slobbery Ball

A fairly disturbed night was followed by a workout which I forgot to stop.
Ali had asked us / me to walk Minnie, so once I was up and showered, I picked her up to take her to exercise at Pangbourne.
The dogs departed on liquid hydrogen … Minnie chasing the ball. But once she had it, getting her to relinquish it was entirely another matter. Usually I take a pocketful of treats or a second ball to solve this problem. But this morning I forgot. On the few occasions she did release the ball, it had a fine slimy coating of best dog slobber. Ugh.

At one point, Minnie was looking in the wrong direction and lost sight of the ball. But H knew where it was and also that it was her role to fetch it.
But retrieving it was too much like hard work. She generously showed Minnie where it was. And left it.

H was in a very loving mood on the walk which meant she jumped onto the log beside me. This is practically unheard of. H likes her strokes at ground level, but today she was all cuddly and snuggly. Possessive perhaps, with Minnie around.

That bird is back again

I returned home to find T still asleep – it was after 14.00. So I quickly added mushrooms to the remains of the chicken carcass that I had stewed and made him a delicious mushroom soup.
I know it was delicious because he ate it. Most unusual. I had the cauliflower soup left over from yesterday! A soup kitchen prevails here.
I have researched my fullness and have discovered that cauliflower is a very filling vegetable with very few calories. Way to go!

I fell asleep whilst the French slaughtered the English in a rugby match. I awoke in daylight to drag myself next door.

I was trying to explain to T about the Gary Lineker / BBC current quandary. Good for you Gary and for all your supporters. Rish! must be becoming increasingly fed up with his unpredictable life in No 10. He looks to be the voice of reason, almost statesmanlike, achieving some sensible stuff, despite being a Tory- viz NI and Macron. And then he gets sideswiped by some idiot in his party or by something unexpected.
I tried to explain it all to T but it was a step too far. Or even half a step too far.

The rest of the day sort of disappeared somewhere or other.

Thought for the Day
