Yes – just been out on a Friday night out! On my own!
it’s one year since the Russians invaded that Nazi state to put the Ukrainian people out of their misery and free them. BBC put out a trailer at the end of the news, so full of images …
Another relatively sleepful night passed me by although I awoke in the early hours to note that the dreaded street light was off again. It would have been delicious darkness if T had not left his study table light on.
He was co-operative and we were up and away to Daycare in good time.
It was another grey and rather chilly day, although the temperature reading was 10C. I didn’t wear a coat, just a thick sweater. And I was warm enough.

H and I walked round Castle Meadows, pausing at one of the benches to chat for a while to a very pleasant lady who lives, permanently, on one of the boats moored nearby. A big wide boat that is quite ancient. So ancient, her partner feels they can’t move it up and down the river anymore. I think I know the one. We discussed the recent flooding and she said it had been waist deep in the meadow. They had to leave the boat for a couple of days. For their little dog Rosie as much as anything. She was a very sweet border terrier.
i returned home to perform chores. Whatever else?
Sprayed some solution on the green bits of our patio slabs. The sodium carbonate had worked quite well, but I had not bought enough to cover all that needed doing. So ‘Green Gone’ was today’s solution which should take up to 3 days. But after a couple of hours the effects are already noticeable.
Now my lovely stretchy fabric garden hose has developed a terrible Lurgy. The brass tap adaptor is now broken in two pieces. Further examination has revealed the integral section was crimped to some internal plastic tube keep it all in place. I fear it is beyond easy or sensible repair and that a new hose is necessary. But a crimping ‘expert’ could probably fix it. But I would still need a new tap connector.
Alex brought us a box of delicious cheeses from her connoisseur outing yesterday. Apparently this was a huge success. It seemed a shame to unwrap them they looked so good in their special paper. I’ve messed them up now!
I dropped into doze danger zone when it was time to pick up T. But I propped my eyes open and found him trying to break out of the Centre. But he has had a good day. Cottage pie for lunch, one of the staff said. Quite big portions apparently.
I took myself out for a Friday night treat. To a Dementia Talk. In Cholsey. It was actually very well attended, as well as being interesting. I was glad I went, in the end. The Take aways? Flickering lights, those good old shelves of books and the difference between Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s. Statistics…. I/14 have dementia over the age of 70; 1/6 over the age of 80 / 1/3 over the age of 90. Or similar.

Thought for the Day

I appear to have one of those
