White and Wet

I enjoyed a mega sleep last night until I woke around 05.30. Once it was daylight, it was clear that it was going to be a sunny day. (Supported by met office data) In fact we are promised a sunny, but cold, week to come.

T was ahead of me in the shower, after a little arm twisting. Light pressure and all that. So we were on time at the Day Centre. There, I met a slightly exasperated lady whose long term experiences mirror my own: a husband who was not cooperating in getting up and ready; becoming more tricky to manage; quite stubborn; repeated questions; moved house around the same time as us. Etc
She was able to recommend an (expensive) home in Benson for respite care. She justified the cost as his share of the cost of an expensive long haul holiday. Which is what they used to do after Christmas. Go long haul.
I then took H for a lovely wander around Castle Meadows from where I studied the new and local Lake District. And the white contrast of the frost. The birds seem very happy. But the boats looked rather awkward riding high above the meadows. In fact, I thought one boat had made a run for it and escaped into the field.

Pen rang whilst I was out in the Meadows, to tell me she had got snowed in at home. But was about to escape. Various cars had slid into each other outside their house. (Leaving Aylesbeare from their house involves negotiating shortish slopes aka hills, whichever direction you choose) Someone had installed a traffic light,

and repairs to the pub came into it somewhere. And I believe a kind farmer arrived with a tractor to tow people out of the mess they had made of things, and to scatter salt. Maybe she has some photos. And if you can get your head round that, well done.

Waitrose beckoned beguilingly. I needed a few items, mostly fresh items. I tried not to overload the fridge, but judging by the weight of the bags, I failed. One split, very annoyingly, so everything within scattered around the car.

Mindless domestic chores controlled me for a while – unpacking shopping / dealing with rubbish/ dishwasher/ washing machine and dryer etc etc .

I fitted lunch in. And nearly fell asleep, but the jangle of all my alarms scuppered that!

After I picked T up, he was removed swiftly to be deshagged at Goring Turkish barber. The little budgies pottered around very sweetly.

‘Smile’ – request

So it was late by the time we arrived home. I could have unloaded the dishwasher but I did not. Instead I shoved something ready made into the oven and we ate it sometime later. And then, predictably, I fell asleep.
