Doctor Doctor

Another comfy night though I continue to suffer disturbances. I was awake for a while around 04.00 and I thought that was it, for the night, but I soon fell fast asleep again until well after 07.00. This shockingly late awakening kicked me into action.

By the time I got myself going, it was almost time to depart for my GP. appointment which was at 10.00, in Woodcote. As I headed out that way a new notification blemished my dashboard – a frost warning symbol. Oh aren’t heated seats a Godsend! And a button that switches the engine on with a click instead of revving and intrusive doubts about its ability to start. And as I parked, I observed icy crystals on the adjacent car. Well, today is the first official day of winter.

I saw my own Doc, who was actually not the one who had read my notes, and asked me to make a face to face appointment. However, he was young (about 12 ) and, despite this, inspired confidence. But it took him a while to get up to speed with my goings on as he went through the discharge notes from Italy.

He checked out my heart which was behaving itself and said he thought I didn’t need to see a cardiologist (Italian recommendation) as in the UK the GPs normally deal with regulating BP and minor heart irregularities etc.
We discussed the doses of the tablets I currently take, along with the one the Italians have added in and whether these needed adjusting. Apparently changing any one can affect the effects of the others. So it all needs reviewing in a couple of weeks.
He didn’t seem to think I was going to die any time soon, so I hope he is right.

I called in at Little Tesco’s for more soup veg. And some fruit etc. And then I made the soup. The other day it was mainly celery and pea. Today the sweet corn soup turned into yellow split pea, sweet potato, leeks, lemon and celery. This was due to the absence of sweet corn in the shop. I fancy sweet corn and parsnip soup but that will be another day. Anyway, it was tasty and will last two days. I thrust some at T even though he said he did not want any.

I managed to get H out for a very swift and short walk while the soup cooked. My heart was not in walking today. I just feel cold.

I have rung the boiler repair people (2x now) to explain the radiators work but underfloor heating , in sitting room and kitchen, does not seem to be cooperating. Promises promises! I don’t expect to be cold only 17 days after a boiler service. Feeling cold makes me unlikely to want to go walkies. T keeps skulking in bed.

However our heated fleece/throws work a treat and are not too expensive to run. A lot cheaper than using mobile radiators anyway. It’s times like this I miss our open fire. But impossible now with T the way he is. Not that we have a fireplace anyway.

There was more football to sort of entertain me this afternoon and evening. In fact, the evening’s offering was very enthralling.

Have some of today’s soup!

Very proud of Fleur who has not only scooped her school’s Key Stage 3 overall achievement award, but has also now been awarded the Science award. Makes me happy that a girl has a science award. And that that girl is my granddaughter. She has not inherited my scientific ability. Or lack of it.
