There seems to be a bit of a fuss over Suella Braverman. Along with others, I see her as a not very bright, very right wing, manipulative, untrustworthy, jumped up little nobody.
Last full day today, unless you count tomorrow, when I will be stretching the car.
A bit of a fussy night because I was organising our return journey in my brain. I decided to head for Pesaro for first night off the ferry. It takes forever to escape Ancona as there is only one way out and a traffic light that causes ridiculous tailbacks. It’s usually raining and dark. So back to Baia Flaminia for a night. At least I know H can have a good run there.
Probably Piacenza next then Aix les Bains if the vet I emailed ever replies. Then somewhere in the middle on the 3rd and then a late shuttle from Calais on the 4th.
Well that’s current thinking but it might all change.
H and I stepped out in the dark once more. Today it was Skinny who came to say hello first. The rest were not far behind. Chris had a full compliment of dogs today. Oskar made me laugh as he took possession of a bone, one that has kept him busy for a few days.

As we returned, I drove round to the camping reception where I met Maria, and where Chris brought us 10kg of best Cretan salt.
We drifted into Palaiochora, but the barber was ‘full’. So T remains fluffy. I was surprised to see it so busy and quite festive with flags hanging off various lamp posts and balcony. A couple of blokes were erecting a temporary stage, all in honour of Heidi and Oskar’s birthday tomorrow. Along with English Minnie, Greek Minnie, Charlie and Millie and a few more. Or perhaps it is for OXI Day.
I’m sure I remember OXI day going almost unnoticed a few years ago, as I tried to work out why the shops were not open.
Today, that meant finding olive oil was suddenly a whole lot more urgent. As was buying a Greek flag and some gigantes beans. Most shops will be shut.
Anyway we pitched up at the olive mill to find they were able to produce some oil for us.

Our very generous host has said we can stay as long as we like tomorrow. That is very kind of him.
Upon our return from Palaiochora, T downed a rather large ice cream and then we pottered off to the beach. The ice cream was one of the only 4 ice creams that Vlisidis had to sell. Outside the shop, bloke of advanced years hailed T as an old mate. Then Xanthippos rolled up on his scooter and T hailed him as an old mate. T had not a clue who they were.
It was just so lovely in the sea – flat calm, so very clear, sort of warm. I did not want to get out! As far as a final day goes, this one could not have been more perfect. Weather wise.
After getting rid of the salt and we ate in Palaiochora. From afar, we watched the Samaria ferry arrive and disembark its passengers. Which were not many.
