After 10 days since leaving the UK, with 3 days at Pesaro, we have finally arrived at Grammeno.
It was dark in Chania when we left the boat from Piraeus, but the sun was rising over the mountains as we left the National Road.

It was a ripe orange sunrise giving the rocks great depth of colour . Our journey to Palaiochora was without incident. We were unable to grab a coffee at Vakakis due to the presence of the ferry and loads of people coming or going. I’m not sure which.
We stopped at Zygos on the way out of Palaiochora for restorative coffee and bread and preserves. Chris was out and about on his bike, shopping etc and joined us there.

Heidi completely lost it , and went completely bonkers, after 3 years, she remembered him, confirming her adoration with wags and licks.
After T had dispensed with 4 pots of filter coffee, we moved on to the camp site to be greeted by Maria and Chris mark 2 and a cabin key.
The next hour or two was spent relaxing, emptying the car, reminding T where we were, chatting, Chris kindly brought down various items of ours.

But I still had not had a chance to get at the bags. I would pay for this later. I did not know where to find my head torch, phone charger, amongst other items.
Tina and Aspassia had agreed to visit and were due just after 18.00. They were on time. So that ensured I never did unpack the things I needed next morning. Bear with that thought!
We chatted. I showed them the cabin next door to us. We chatted more.
I was not the only person with a birthday today / a very much younger person was celebrating a birthday with lots of little friends. That produced quite a lot of harmless disturbance.
We retreated to the camping bar/ restaurant for our evening meal which was very good. Boureki x 3 and Moussaka x 1.
I felt knackered – in bed soon after 22.30.
I needed a shower, but jad ujust jad not gotnthere.
I slept nicely until I was jogged into reality in the early hours. T trying to understand how the bog bucket worked didn’t help. Failed there. Heidi escaped. I couldn’t find my other shoe to go looking for her either. Nor could I find my head torch. And my walking stick was in the car a tripping zone or two away.
Wearing an unsuitable pair of shoes, I blundered out into the dark and silent campsite, whispering H’s name. She was obviously very busy, but eventually sneaked out from round one of the cabins, whereupon I grabbed her and stuffed her back inside.
That brings us to this morning… watch this space … watch me get my act together!
