After yesterday’s gallivanting around the Berkshire countryside, I was quite glad to have a non-day.
Sleep was disturbed in the early hours as I waited for a sensible hour and daylight. This latter arrives much later now. Of course I dozed off again before either arrived.
I am often able to complete Wordle; Waffle and Quordle, before getting up, but if not , I reserve them as a delicious treat for later. E usually posts first. However, I made a right mess of Quordle today, and not for the first time.
Ali and Dave would be coming to pick up their baby red car, and release the overtightened tap. So I needed to get going, but didn’t have long. This meant that H got a short trot to the Rec and back. We met no one, apart from Wendy and their two dogs, accompanied by Burt in his mobility scooter. Their puppy is 5 months old now and quite full of itself. But I wonder how much exercise it gets.
Family and I enjoyed a coffee and a chat in the garden whilst Dave fiddled with the tap and the parasol base. Success with the tap but not so far with the parasol base. T remained in bed.
It was good to sit and have an adult chat. George goes to PGL on Tuesday and the remainder of the family to Paris a day or two later.
We get to do Minnie if Lena is not around.
Ali informed me that Lena’s Pangbourne . friend is returning to Ukraine in just over a week and she is fairly devastated. They used to do things together at weekends. The friend also had a 6 year old boy, a baby and a mother in law and I believe MIL is behind the desire to return. I also think they are welcome back in the UK, but any trips out of the UK are time limited under the Homes for Ukrainians scheme. I think they live somewhere more isolated, in independent accommodation, so have a car. It will be hard for Lena.
Our bed problem may be close to resolution. Ali has offered to oversee replacing it in our absence if I select a replacement… planning to keep the mattress but replace the frame. I have measuring to do and a trip to John Lewis to make.
Nothing really happened during the rest of the day. It whiled itself away.
