Anastasios Mavroudis, our nephew, married Yoko Ishyama today. 30/7/22

It was quite an uphill slight slog from our hotel to the church. I got mildly overheated – as if it wasn’t hot enough anyway around 19.30. Another wedding was just concluding as we arrived.

Rupert trying to sort out Vangeli who couldn’t find the bride to bring to the church. And trying to sort out his mother, who couldn’t find the rice. (To throw at the bride and groom)

Our chairs were mysteriously low. My chin almost rested on the table.

Rupert and Fugata Quintet played for an hour or so. Everything was explained in both Greek and English.

It was a good event. Lots of hard work and no small amount of stress.
Some wedding take aways…
We returned to the hotel at 02.30.
T coped well and we managed to stop him from trying to clear the dishes.
He drank a lot of 00 beer which meant various accompanied trips to the loo-he can no longer remember where it is.
We met a lot of very nice people, who had travelled from afar.
Yoko’s parents are very sweet. It took them two hours to negotiate immigration when they arrived in Greece, despite no visa requirements.
It is a Japanese thing not to hold eye contact.
