Tuesday’s art revisited today – a regiment of strawberries
Last night was not good. The Great Heat had lingered on despite the evening cooling down, and a sprinkling by few drops of rain. I sat out in it, enjoying the wet drops on my sticky skin. But it only lasted a minute or two .
The evening became a bit of a battle with T because he kept closing the doors and windows. And I kept opening them to release the heat that had built up inside. And T kept closing them. And I opened them – etc.
The bedroom, which is normally cool at bedtime, was also a target for closed windows, which I reopened. Thereafter, I was subjected to a multitude of pointed comments, to the effect that I was asking for trouble, we would get burgled or assaulted etc etc. It was all very tedious.
Sleep did not come easily. At some point, in the night, I awoke and went to the back of the house, opening all the windows and doors. By now, the air was much cooler, cutting through any lingering warmth. Gradually this cooler air flooded the house reaching the bedroom, creating a through draft. And sleep overwhelmed me.
I had a lazy start to the day. Exercises of the body and mind and then a slow get going. No need to get H out early today.
I was waiting for T to get up so I could take him to the nice Turkish barber and then out to lunch somewhere. H needed a walk so it was to the Rec and back. She made good use of her time, exploring all 4 corners and rolling in some distant delight.

The rec was another bleached brown crisp grassy area.

The temperature outside was around 25C, which would normally feel very warm.. But, at around 15C lower than yesterday, it felt quite cool.
We eventually got to the barber, where T was deshagged. This was to tidy him up before the wedding which is still 10 days away. But we have things going on which will get in the way of hair cuts.

The Perch and Pike provided us with an excellent lunch. Feta and watermelon salad with fresh broad beans is very tasty. I needed a rest after that. So I had one.
It was early evening before I tackled the mess that was my strawberry picture. I’m glad I did.

The Good Lord help us please, should that wooden ’I have delivered’ Liz Truss ever become primeminister. My heart fell out of my boots. Look who is backing her.
