It was a day of this and that and lots of boring domesticity. I had errands to do out and about and also within. Every time I sat down to catch my breath, something cropped up so I was up and out and about again. No peace for the wicked, or the innocent for that matter.
I had a good sleep. My watch was very flat after the theatre yesterday evening, and it was on charge all night. Only because I was so dopy, I forgot to retrieve it.
I was a bit dopy this morning too. T was very dopy and it was a bit of a battle getting him up to the social club. I stripped the bed and instead of concentrating his limited powers on getting dressed, he kept fiddling with the pillows or the duvet or anything except for the clothes he should have been putting on.
Eventually, we squeaked out of the house and I delivered T into the arms of a very bewitching young lady at the Day Centre.
I had noticed a pleasant field just over the railway bridge from his ‘club’. So H and I had a pleasant wander. We had various views of the Clumps, depending upon where we were standing. The weather was a bit gloomy and not very warm.

The Wallingford – Cholsey light railway is just on the right. It can’t be a very long ride as the two places are not very far apart.

I had to pop into Tesco Express in Cholsey for some more Loctite. The shower has taken on a new leaning wobble. The last repair lasted quite a while. Just as I was leaving, a rather unkempt figure accosted me telling me about the Russians and nuclear war. No idea why/ who he was etc.
H and I returned home to continue the domestic chores. Shock! Horror! I’ve washed the electric blanket. Panic not; it is machine washable, but the question is … will it be dry enough to get back onto the bed tonight? If not, I will be in deep bother with T.
Just as the 13.00 news was on, I thought I could really do with a sleep. But … I had tablets to collect from the surgery, and found I was taking Lena there too. Two main reasons – identity and papers, ie some confirmation from West Berks, passports, and to show her where it is. Then her registration will be complete. And on to the train station. Timur and Lena will visit school later.
The Illis go to Mauritius early Weds am … time is running out. Ali is running around not only trying to get her work completed, but also doing admin for E and T.
The doc visit was very smooth. And now she knows where it is. I have no update on the school visit. I expect he will start after HT.
(Update – Timur will have two trial mornings at school this week and start after HT. Unfortunately the ratio of boys to girls in his year is miserable ie only 2 boys to loads of girls. But the two boys and parents have already included him in a trip to Beale Park on Saturday) Beale Park is cool.
In no time at all I had wrestled the duvet into its cover -ha ha. I had rescued T from his club. He seems to have had another good day. Bowls seems to have been today’s activity. The centre leader mentioned that ’take it in turns please’ didn’t register with most of the participants. I suspect it was like Monty Python and the Olympics.
Following this, I dragged his shagginess to the turkish barber who welcomed us like old friends.
I was completely fascinated by some chap who seemed to be having the complete works – hair, beard, massages, hot cloths and the flame treatment. I found that slightly alarming as the barber approached his client with a mini bunsen burner and then flapped the flame around his ears. Maybe he was burning hairy ears?

Once home, I rescued the , now dry, electric blanket and sorted the bed out so we could actually get into it at some point later today.
Moving back-
Fleur captained the Berkshire hockey team yesterday and was awarded a special commendation. Two were awarded to the squad.

Moving forward again… A little bit of TV excitement… A new series of Silent Witness starts today – celebrating 25 years of the programme. They are bringing back Amanda Burton as Sam Ryan with her calming Irish lilt. The original pathologist if I recall correctly.
Without T the day has been fairly stressless . Only fairly because of the chaotic domestic chore list.
This evening arrived – would you like anything? He kindly asks… Yes please, I reply – A glass of cold water please. So far he has made three journeys –
- A huge coffee mug of water – NO – A GLASS PLEASE
- A different huge coffee mug of water – NO – A GLASS PLEASE
- A big fat wine glass of water on a slim stem
NO I DON’T WANT WATER IN ANY STUPID STUFF. Just a tumbler please.
4. A wine glass and a huge mug of water arrive simultaneously
NO! JUST AN ORDINARY GLASS OF WATER FOR BY THE BED. WHAT DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT?
Door slams. Sulk kicks in. People might mince around saying ”He can’t help it.”
I KNOW THAT. I’M NOT STUPID LIKE YOU ARE FOR WASTING YOUR BREATH AND MY LISTENING TIME WHEN YOU ARE SAYING THINGS THAT DO NOT HELP.
Try walking in my shoes – which we both know you are not prepared to do – otherwise shut up.
My thoughts – that I never actually say… : ))
Tues am – I’m in a very jolly mood now after a wakeful night and a brief H walk in he rain. I’m quite safe territory.
Thoughts for the Day
