I had a good sleep but needed to get going early because I had to get T to his new Social Club by 10.00. That meant starting preparations (nagging) at 08.00. I’m not sure he could remember from Friday but he was quite compliant and ready in time. H had to wait for her walk because I had a coffee morning to attend.
I delivered T who was welcomed nicely.
The coffee morning was held in Goring Free Church and is for Ukranian visitors and people involved in hosting them. They will be held once a month. It was attended extremely well, with quite a smattering of Ukranians from the wider area. Ali and Dave also appeared and I think they made useful contacts – some to do with helping Elena obtain benefits. which is not straight forward. Apparently a wave of new arrivals are expected over the next few days.
I met Christine who speaks fluent Russian, from her university days, so can converse with all Ukranians as they all speak Russian too.
I didn’t hang around too long, mindful that H needed a walk. By the time we were out at Castle Meadows, the sun was blazing down, although there was quite a breeze. It was a lovely day and I was struck by the way the grasses ebbed and flowed like the movement of a sea.
I’ve never met a party poodle before, as opposed to a party pooper, but I did today. What a beautiful puppy, destined for greatness in size, with striking black and white colouring .
No brown bread Lidl was next on the list. True to form. I managed to fill a few carriers with other delicacies including 3 boxes of grapes. I doubt there will be any left by morning.
I then had an hour or so at home where I caught up with the news and relaxed and almost fell asleep. But that would not do because I had T to pick up.
A quiz was in progress when I arrived for him – the question I heard was demanding enough to keep him stimulated. He was sitting with some men who seemed quite chatty. When promoted, or even prompted, he said he would see them on Friday. He couldn’t tell me what he had done or eaten for lunch, but he was quite happy.
I have told me he attends this Social Club so he can make friends of his own. And, because some of the people there need a bit of help which he can provide. He likes to help but in most circumstances it goes pear shaped, due to his lack of insight in any given situation. But I think things could work nicely for him.
Once home, it did not take long for the first explosion to occur. I had wrong footed him and he did not like it. It lasted about a minute.
The weather was deteriorating and the rest of the day brought heavy rain showers. I dozed on the sofa (Dr Michael Moseley says an afternoon sleep is good for you, if you wake early in the morning) . The patio doors were wide open and it was the hypothermia that awoke me.
I cooked supper and fell asleep again. I took myself to bed because I was now clearly on repeat!
Thought for the Day
