Coffee and Chocolate Cake

What a sleep! It was daylight when I woke up! Since it was daylight, guilt caused me to get myself up and investigate the household .

I concluded that Eleanor was either not up, or was out and about with Kally. There were no clues, short of waking them if they were asleep so I made coffee and returned to bed. A small amount of flexing took place. Only problem, mid flex, I suddenly realised the rubbish bin needed to be put out at the front. So, grabbing a dressing gown I trundled the bin up our alleyway just in time to hand it over to a friendly ‘unwanted items disposal technician.’

I needed to get myself going because the cleaners were expected. After a shower, I started to work on getting T up. By now, E and Kally appeared and we had some brekkie and worked out a plan for the day.

They then disappeared for a ’short’ walk before the scheduled bluebell one. The cleaners came and went, leaving the house smelling sweeter than when they arrived.

E and Kally reappeared around a short 4 miles later having been distracted by annoying ‘private’ and ’keep out’ signs along a public footpath that E felt required challenging. We jettisoned the bluebells, postponing them for another occasion, because time was running out. E had found some bluebells of her own anyway.

T and I took H for a decent walk around Castle Meadows. We wandered around the moat area, carefully avoiding Bunny Brambles. And then we visited the river. The bluebells would have required around 2/3 hours.

We returned. I dumped T and H, exchanging them for E and K and we left for a meeting with Carer friends. E was had special dispensation to join the group on the grounds her profile fitted the requirements, because she had cared for both her parents. We enjoyed hot drinks and the most scrummy chocolate cake ever, as we chatted.
I was able to report back on my dealings with the mental health team on T’s behalf. They have been very proactive and speedy with all sorts of useful links. Nigel reported back to me yesterday and the dementia adviser was on the phone today. I have contacted Cholsey Day Centre and they have spaces for non-complex cases. We will arrange a trial day for T. The lady I spoke to was wonderful, A breath of fresh air and relief swept over me.

Thought for the Day
