I had another very nice sleep. And it was around 06.00 when I awoke – obviously I am still on the winter clock. I haven’t really noticed this happen in previous years, or maybe I just wake with daylight approaching.
I arose and made breakfast with the few items that found lurking in the fridge. ie thin bagels. And there was some nice coffee to be had.
For once, bed was not beckoning, but H was.
I decided to carry out an LFT test. Unfortunately, the current packs I have are obviously very old stock which require you to swipe your throat as well as your nose. The good news was that this was my first negative test since 20/3. T will not like these rests.
I had cocked up over my hairdressing appointment – I thought it was tomorrow, but it was actually today, It is now on Friday – if I ever get there.
Following yesterday’s traffic moan, matters have worsened. Streatley is no longer accessible from Wallingford direction. Not only are emergency road works blocking the road, but a truck decided it could get round them, but it fell into the hole instead. Now it can’t get out again.
P and F are in a posh B and B because they can’t stay with the poxy Illis. Access from the B and B to Streatley is blocked by the hole. You couldn’t make it up! It is currently a 10 mile road detour to get to Goring /Streatley from here…

I prepped up a seeded bread mix, and left it to rise whilst I took H for a walk

H and I had a pleasant walk at Castle Meadows again. We were out somewhat earlier than yesterday! We chatted to Dylan’s owner for a while. I think we have chatted before. Dylan is big and beige with curly fluff. The day has been fairly miserable. I kept thinking the sun would break through but it dud nit. Or, more accurately, did not.

Once home, I carried on preparing and baking the bread . Adding chopped walnuts made a tasty loaf which went well with some hard boiled eggs.
T has spent the day dossing which will probably make for trouble later. I stuck a flea in his ear when I caught him trying to move the flower pots. Again! That made him scurry out of my way. And sulk. But then I fell asleep so goodness knows what is facing me. I have yet to investigate.
Ukranian refugee news. Ali says Olena and Timur must be in the ‘system’ because she has received an email from West Berks containing a load of refugee information. There is only one available school place in Streatley Primary School, in Timur’s school year, and I don’t suppose they will allot it to Timur, unless he is in the country. Understandably. But Ali is on the case! School will be a novelty for him. I think, in Ukraine, he is in what they call ’kindergarten’ at the moment.
Apparently passing out through Poland is tricky and takes a while, and they are looking at exiting via Slovakia.
The day seems to have disappeared behind closed eyelids. I really have sat around too much today.
Thought for the Day

For all those poor people, the EU mainly does the job. The UK is all mouth and no trousers.
