I‘m a statistic

Yes… finally… after two years, Covid has come knocking at the door and has pushed its way inside. Great anniversary present. I will no doubt be added to the statistics. T is still negative.

I enjoyed a good night’s sleep, buoyed up after a tasty meal at the Lido.

I carried out the usual early activities. Brenda was due to arrive around 10.45 and we would be giving her a lift to Wokingham . Or that was the plan. I took H out for a short walk round Streatley Meadows and dropped her off at the Illis for them to look after while we were out.

I made sure T was up and started to don my party clothes for our lunch out. In the midst of all this, an awkward tickly but sore sensation at the back of my throat reminded me that I should do an LFT test before departing for our function.

I was somewhat surprised to see two pink lines reflecting a positive result.

confirmation of my positive result and T’s negative one

The plan went out of the window. All this caused instant consternation – Brenda was on her way; short notice cancellation of our attendance at the party; no art class on Tuesday; no Eleanor to stay; no nothing; T getting grumpy – he can’t remember what Covid is and wants to go out. H is at the Illis where she will now stay overnight. We will reassess things in the morning.
The trouble is… T has no concept of social distancing, so sending him out with H on his own is not a safe option. Not safe for anyone he may encounter because his usual practice is to waylay people, getting up, close and personal, and then he tells them H’s life history.

So Brenda arrived to be told we could not go socialising. I felt rather bad about that because she had come out of her way to get here.
LFT’s are not currently available online. Luckily I have a few spare but not enough if I have to keep testing both of us. If there are no tests available, how are you supposed to know when you are no longer positive?
Update – managed to order some lft tests.

The day was supposed to be warm and sunny. It was definitely sunny but did not feel warm to me.

As the day has progressed, my throat has become more sore. And my nose more snotty. But there you go!

Now, there is one problem with my new policy to keep the fridge fairly empty … I wonder what that can be? It will soon be completely empty! Luckily, very luckily, Pen bought us a COOK voucher to buy some frozen meals. They are now ordered and will arrive on Tuesday. There is quite a lot in the freezer anyway. And I have some bread mix.

Ali’s Ukranian refugees are hoping to arrive in early April. I have been asked to look after them where necessary whilst the Illis are on holiday for 10 days. Paperwork to be approved I suppose. Luckily the local shops are within walking distance as are the river and the woods. Some 6 year old boys would be handy. And a few toys.

The afternoon and evening dragged on. Liverpool won their football match.

We need a plumber as we have a drippy shower – Not something we can fix – I don’t think superglue will cut the mustard.

Thought for the Day
