No lunch

No lunch today, to speak of, saved myself for the evening meal out with my two daughters.

I was up quite early because I was awake with jobs to do. Some tidying up before Sharon arrived to clean, which would be much later in the day – after 13.30. Normally she is here around 11.30.

I was busy doing craftwork etc all morning. It was not a great morning – another dull one with nothing uplifting about it.

H wasn’t too bothered about going out and about and it was 15.00, with daylight fading, when we eventually left home.

I really can’t remember doing much in the morning apart from tidying up etc.

Sharon arrived bemoaning the NHS, because in her role as a cancer nurse and catheter changer, she had passed two patients on to A and E due to complications with blockages for both of them and had received a call telling her not to refer people to them. Both had required medical intervention that she could not give, one of them because of the risks involved in a non-hospital location.

I brought to mind another friend/ patient in an A and E dept elsewhere. No serious triaging had taken place, when a staff member told all those waiting to go home. On the grounds of the number of ambulances waiting. She received a call the next day from an A and E doctor asking why she had left …

Sharon had noticed my ten year old previous knitted garland while she cleaned at Ali’s AB’s asked if she could commission one for next year!

Anyway, around 15.20, H and I had a brief walk. As I left home the street lights were on, and I wondered if I was going to have enough visibility. But out in the meadows the light was much better and we grabbed a half hour of fresh air.

My ankle is troubling me again. It’s a literal pain.

Pen arrived around 16.45 armed with an amaryllis and a lovely heavy pot, planted up with violas and a cyclamen and some bulbs. We had a cup of tea and a batter. Or even a matter, NATTER until she left for Ali’s.

I followed soon after to pick the pair up to go to the Five Little Pigs in Wallingford.
There, we enjoyed a lovely meal in a pleasantly calm ambience. No frenetic Christmas parties — all just perfect. The venue was chosen because we had been there a few times with T. This was as a result of a spanking review written by Jay Rayner a few years ago.

I gave Pen her new her knitted tree garland and she seemed very happy with that. Ali got half of a tree complete with loose threads. She was instructed to ‘Watch this space.’

I returned the girls to Ali’s around 21.30 and prepped myself for bed at home. If only I had got into it! But I didn’t and you will guess what happened next.

Here’s an interesting idea …

Anne’s sister, Mary, died late night of the 12th in New Zealand. Anne had been out there around three weeks. It was inevitable. Despite the distance between them they face timed almost every U.K. early morning, once that became an option. This week will be a sad one for both families.

Thought for the Day

Anydri October 2018 with Ken, Mary Anne, Ken and Chris.

And , moving on , very proud of son in law Dave, who is striking out in his own since finally parting from Nuheat.

What a handsome chap!
