I had a really good sleep with one main interruption when I thought I’d done my share of sleeping. But I was off again before I had drunk my hot drink. And I awoke around 07.00.
It was to be a day of more annoying chores. And a few useful jobs done, all of which took longer than I expected .
Outside, it was a raw and cold day. H and I agreed that we did not like the look of it. It would be a short walk today.
The window cleaner was due to visit so I delayed our walk. The back gate is awkward to use and is held in place by a rock. It’s easier to open from the garden side. H did not like the window cleaner and kept up a throaty growl accompanied by the occasional bark.
Once he was done we went to cave of treasures, AKA Goring Hardware. They had everything I wanted: a sieve, white sewing cotton, jewellery soak cleaner; a couple of storage containers. I ignored the specialist, hammers and spammers, the paint, the wheelbarrows and seeds, the Christmas decorations and fancy napkins. But I did also buy some 10 hour burn giant tea lights and a box of matches.
The giant tea lights seemed like a good idea after the recent power cut here, which I missed because I was in Wales. Now I’m prepared, there will be no more night time power cuts.
We went home and I got on with more chores before I had a little snooze. Oh, and we had a little walk on the way home. One of those where H flattens her ears, ish, and speeds off into the distance. She likes sniffing around time before performing and before I catch up.
I’m not quite sure how the afternoon passed. Ali called to say they had taken DCI to the doctors and thence to A and E. His finger was a mess with peculiar swelling and discoloration after a small burn a few days ago. The surgery nurse was not sure about it and Ali was not prepared to wait until the afternoon for him to be properly assessed. Anyway they did a thorough job of cleansing it at the hospital and he has special orange dressings to prevent further infection.
Tomorrow I need to get Frankie’s birthday gift heirloom into the post so she stands a chance of receiving it in time for her 21st birthday. Sharon will come and clean so helping me avoid some more chores.
I’ve kept myself busy!
Hard Chore Thoughts for the Day

That’s one I did earlier.

Just in case you are not an Afrikaner so you know what ESKOM means.
