Messy Day

Too many interruptions and distractions from what I had planned.

But, hey, two good pieces of news landed. Firstly, Evie passed her driving test… no recent lessons to help her either, because locally instructors were booked up. Her approach to driving has been a bit like my day- interrupted. A bit stop… start with a negative patch in the middle. But hey, she passed first time. So, well done to Dave for helping her get there. A stunning result, well done Evie…

And Fleur has taken the Psychology and French prizes for her GCSE results. I wouldn’t have said these were her likely prize subjects (well- French at least) but then no one else got a 9 in Psychology and I think 9s were rare in French too. So well done to Fleur.

DCI is poorly so I was asked if I would drop Fleur to Marlow for hockey this evening. This then became Maidenhead, which then became Reading, so I ended up taking her to Reading Station to meet her mother who took over. That’s just an example of what happened on and off all day.

There were things I really needed to get on with but the distractions started early in the morning, with various phone calls from Pen, containing requests / discussions about doing inconvenient things. Most of which were dealt with.

But I felt like closing off communications with the outside world and should have! H eventually got a walk at Cholsey, in lovely sunshine.
An errand for Ali to pick up a delivery, took me to Innpost boxes at Lidl and thence into Lidl. There I spent some money.
Lidl has changed its layout with an army of new freezers. And exciting contents in some. If you like pizzas.

Christmas items spilled out over the other aisles – hard goods and edible ones. And outside was a stack of Christmas trees.

I returned home to more distractions including a letter delivered by hand, but not intended for me. H had happily bitten deep into it.
There were other interruptions which interfered with me trying to put the shopping away. And before I knew it, it was time to pick up Fleur and take her to Reading.

I was home again just in time for the Bake Off final and the right person won. On the day.

Tomorrow, I have more extremely irritating tasks which require my attention before I can do what I want to do.

Thought for the Day
