I had a better night last night, thanks to the nasal spray, but it was still interrupted.
I awoke and took H downstairs and outside at around 07.00 and helped myself to a coffee. And was brought delicious crumpets somewhat later .
Pen’s cleaner was scheduled to visit, so I was evicted from the snug/ kitchen area so that the cleaner could get on without me creating obstacles.
The day was not very bright but not too cold although it was chilly first thing. The plan had been to head out to Dartmoor, but it was buried in cloud, so we reverted to plan B. A short walk at Budleigh round part of the recently, newly created estuary reserve and then lunch at Darts. In their new and posher restaurant. They still have a café too.
The estuary was beautiful. Bleak, muddy, emptied of the sea, and spaciously thronged with people and their dogs . (Oxymoron there). It was clearly very low tide. The banks of mud were exposed with a variety seabirds enjoying the mood.
Dogs have to be kept on leads, although some people let their dogs be free. But one look at the surrounding mud, made me keep H on the lead and instructed Pen to watch her… where she went etc. It was not long before H spied a tempting puddle, and she was then ankle deep in mud. H that is, not Pen. Particularly dark, silty mud. Inward groan.
We washed her feet in bottled water but it was rather a vain effort. I had forgotten my watch so our exercise was not recorded. We walked almost up to the white bridge.

Pen treated myself and the girls to a wonderful lunch at Darts Farm. The monkfish I had was amazing- two very meaty tails on a heap of Ruby chard. One of those green vegetables I am no longer supposed to enjoy.

The girls have expensive tastes in meals out – steak – but H received a bag of meaty left overs which made her sick later in the evening. Embarrassing or what!
I’m afraid I returned to the family house and dozed the afternoon away – sea air, full tummy, exercise and warmth. It doesn’t take much.
Pen had her flu vaccination. Evie went to work and Frankie busied herself on a book she is writing. This is exciting. She is a very creative author… she is putting a lot of time and effort into it.
We went through to the sitting room where I’m afraid I dozed again until H threw up which caused everyone to spring into action. Everyone except me, because springing up off their sofas is not something that comes easy to me. By the time I was on my feet, Dave was out with H, and Pen had cloths in hand, whilst Frankie wielded sprays. Oh Heidi, no more steak for you.
The TV was on, offering Taskmaster. Sometimes I find this enjoyable and amusing, other times not so much. Today’s catch up was good – the contestants were familiar and amusing, as were the tasks.
