A very pleasant summer’s day.
I had a decent sleep, awaking at the usual early hour. I prepared myself and the doggies for an early walk, again at Pangbourne, though I am reconsidering returning to Castle Meadows. The problem there is the presence of cows in the meadows, and volcanic craters down the approach lane. Alternatively, there are Cholsey Meadows but when I last visited, the grasses were very long and full of itchy creatures. The pond areas were also quite muddy. And a muddy Minnie is not my idea of fun.
Pangbourne was fairly deserted at 07.00. And litter free. And goose free. But there were rowers etc paddling up and down, and boat dwellers had not surfaced.
It was mostly just dog walkers and joggers, although now the daytime temperature has dropped, an early dog walk is not so essential.
Anyway the walk was pleasant and the dogs kept themselves busy. I had left the ball behind.. Deliberately.
We then visited the Illis house to feed Freddy and water the plants. Something has been nibbling his biscuits though he has not been seen by me.
I went outside to turn the hose on, to find it entirely disconnected and in about three sections. I connected it to the tap and the hose reel, connected the spray gun and turned the tap on.
Section by section, it disconnected itself until I was left with a spray gun and no water. I reconnected it all, but not tightly enough, it would seem as yet another section disconnected itself. Well… the plants eventually got a water, of sorts. And that included G’s chillies. But the avocados remain a mystery.
I returned home to find hose wars were continuing there. A small part had fallen off my own spray gun, a bit related to adjusting the spray, resulting in a personal soaking malfunction. Things went from bad to worse when my beans blew over ( and not just the once) and my cucumbers are in a state of collapse. But I did enjoy two or three cherry tomatoes. Small compensation.
I may have had a little doze at some point.
The dogs have been quiet and well behaved all day.
A notice has come through the door warning that Thames Water will be carrying at work in Underhill over three days. Streatley High Street is still closed.
Burt tried to have a whinge until I closed him down. Why he was asking if it was alright for Eddy to park his car in the shared driveway is unknown to me. Eddy has a tongue as far as I’m aware. He and Wendy are looking after next door’s chickens during their holiday. Why offer if you don’t want to do it? Anyway I was trying to water the front plants with my faulty hose so was in no mood to listen to his whinge.
Riots continue in the U.K.. Musk is not helping. I thought he had a mega brain. But, if that is the case, I don’t like the way it works. He seems to have no verbal control.
Norway seems to be offering a more relaxing day today. Mountain biking and zip wires amongst the waterfalls were mentioned. G takes a mean photo.

And I know all is well in Devon.
And I’m off to bed with nice clean freshly aired sheets.
Thought for the Day

But here is the conundrum … our prisons are full.
