These nightmail exchanges between here and Peru are becoming something of a habit. After Macchu Picchu at 06.00 this morning, the explorers have an 11km hike before a journey back to Cusco for the night and then an early flight to Iquitos. Gluttons for punishment or what?
Then I think they are going into the Amazon Jungle which will induce true wifi free conditions. Iquitos might be a gateway to the jungle.
Anyway I awoke around 07.00 and proceeded to nag T to get him up for Daycare. But thank goodness a distant fairy godfather was keeping an eye on things and reminded me today was a bank holiday. What a twit am I? T was all up and ready to go. With nowhere to go to.
So he retired back to bed, and I performed chores.
Eventually, I decided that the dogs and I should go walkies. My ankle is still causing intermittent shafts if pain. So, armed with the ball thrower, we explored Pangbourne Meadows.
The Bank Holiday had brought people out to play . The sun shone, a bit, and it was warm enough. Love in log was out of bounds because someone was selling and displaying home made bags. I did not investigate because I remembered the sign and preparations from earlier in the week.

Bags in the distance. Visiting love in log would have added me to the display.
Once home, pictures of Macchu Picchu started to arrive.

What a trip! I really admire them, as a family, for their ability to cover those trekking distances, and the ups and the downs. But what memories they must have.
I believe they may not walk the 11km return to Agua Calientes because F has been battling a sore knee.
Tomorrow they head for Iquitos and a few days by the Amazon or similar. Shorter walks and boat trips and no wifi beckon. So do mosquitos and other creepy crawlies.
As for us … who knows …
