Departure

Another successful night as far as sleep is concerned.
My desperation for a cuppa propelled me to the kitchen, but no dogs followed. I slowly surfaced and dragged myself to the shower.

T was not in the best mood as far as preparing for Daycare was concerned. It was a case of grump, mutter and whinge.
Eleanor was up and full of beans and set off with Minnie and Kali towards Streatley.
Meanwhile, T and I set off for Cholsey. And he was duly delivered.

A message had arrived from E asking if we could pick her up in Streatley and using tech and satnav we were reunited and returned to Underhill.
Lisa and her clean team were busy at work. And E and I sat outside and chatted whilst they cleaned and hoovered. And we continued to sit outside until E left around 2.30pm which was when I left to pick up T.

It has been a lovely, warm and very peaceful day. Quiet was the garden. No voices, no rowdy birds, no machinery (mostly). Just blessed peace and silvery contrails decorating the sky. Sharp pinpoint straight lines dissolved and spread into a widening smudge. The colours not unlike the Saltire.

The peace today was in sharp contrast to E’s last visit when a large group of noisy kites wheeled overhead, drowning out our conversation. Today, we were hard pushed to spot one or two. Helicopters and small planes ruled the skies today.

E and K departed – please note the neat grass edges after E kindly mowed them. She could hire herself out! I collected T and it was so very warm that we put off H’s stroll until a little later. I had overlooked her a bit today … but that was the way things worked out and she seemed untroubled.

A FaceTime video call from Rafina disturbed our evening peace. We chatted to Pen and Tina for quite a while. In the meantime she had sent me a bit of a bombshell of an email. After all these years of asking… might benefit the girls. Pen is on the job …

There are more fires near Athens which the Roberts glimpsed as they approached via Mystra and the Corinth Canal, the latter declaring itself shut for the day as far Bungee jumping was concerned. (Harry)

The Illis have one more night in Cusco before taking part in the Salkantay trek for 4 nights with their 7kg of luggage. Each. They seem to be sightseeing and there seem to be plenty of sights to see. I don’t suppose they will have wifi whilst trekking.

T had another coughing fit as we prepared ourselves for bed. Once he was lying down, things calmed and he has slept like a baby.
