Today was never going to be a good day. And I was right. It wasn’t.
One or two good things did happen. T moved the plants back where they could be seen from the sitting room. The pots with weeds received pride of place.
The night was somewhat disturbed. I eventually levered myself up to go over to Ali’s to pick up Minnie. I haven’t seen any of them for a couple of weeks. So that was actually quite nice.
I took Minnie and Heidi for a quick refamiliarisation run at Streatley Rec, then home.
Brenda had kindly suggested we meet her later in Newbury somewhere and we settled on the Base Cafe. This was to be after T and I had walked Minnie and H at Greenham. T was quite cooperative and did not complain.
It was lovely to be back there at Greenham. The footpath grasses were shaved, yellow and tinder dry. The dogs shot off in various directions. The doggy pool beckoned from quite a distance. Minnie smashed it and was soon swimming. She took off like a rocket, I am presuming she smelt the water, because I don’t think she could see it from our vantage point.
H followed almost as quickly and was wallowing around within her depth. Other dogs were in and out of the water.
Even T seemed to enjoy the outing.

We followed that up with a drink and snack at the Base Cafe with Brenda who had kindly offered to rescue me from the sheer misery that most weekends offer these days. We had a good chat whilst T tried to organise the dogs, then the plates and cups, followed by the cutlery.
Eventually, they were closing the doors around us so we had to leave.
Home was regained via Aldermaston, near which the Wasing Festival was taking place. I suspected it was low key due to the absence of people and traffic. Or maybe I should say they were limited in their presence.
The evening hung heavy.
