I had a really good night, until around 05.00. I was feeling fairly lively for such an early hour, so I dragged H out to Pangbourne Meadows. It was another beautiful morning.
There had been a heavy shower or two yesterday evening which we had welcomed. But it meant the ground was still damp causing heavy condensation. All over the car. The meadows were empty of people but looking beautiful, though there was litter once more. Not on the epic scale of last weekend. But any litter is more than there should be. Swimmers with their float bags were preparing to enter the water. H cantered around and we sat on the log for a while.

I returned home to get T up and deliver him to Daycare. And then returned home yet again.
I could no longer avoid cleaning the oven, although I think it needs someone who has greater expertise. It was disgusting. The noxious substance I used gave off noxious fumes but largely did the job. My oven is now relatively twinkly and sparkly. Hopefully, when it heats up, it will no longer stink of a confused mixture of all the meals I have used it for over the last two and a half years.
I had cocked up my acrylic paint order. And Amazon have cocked it up even more for me. Firstly I never actually pressed the button to order the paints. Secondly it’s only now they tell me they are coming from the EU. Thirdly, they are charging me for premium delivery when I already subscribe to Prime. They should be here tomorrow.
So rather than use my current paint on the canvas I started, I thought I would do a practice one on paper. Special acrylic paper. So I have started that. While the noxious substance was effervescing all over the oven.

A start. ⬆️⬆️
I continued until I could continue no longer, mainly because the paint needed time to dry. One advantage of acrylic paint is the fact it dries quickly and can be layered. In any case, I needed a break.
After tidying up the oven and its contents and then admiring it, it was time to gather up T. By now it was very hot, too hot to want to be outside. We may even have given into a little snooze.
Burt and Wendy have returned from their holiday in Burnham on Sea.
Penny and family will be moving into their new house on Monday and the removers are packing them up today. I love the home they are about to leave after around 15 years. Frankie was a year into school. The bungalow then had a huge reception room and 3 smallish bedrooms. A new bathroom was quickly put in with a useless shower. The garage was soon converted into a guest ensuite. The useless shower was replaced. The kitchen underwent the most amazing transformation into a vast kitchen living room with a utility, loo and larder. Fantastic views . A great home.
But their new home is magnificent. I think. I haven’t seen it since Christmas. It was bare walls and ripped up floors then.

Friends taking a chilly dip

Moving just down the road to a large and beautiful estate, only part of which seems to be in Aylesbeare. The rear garden looks out onto Dartmoor.
The evening brought us some good comedy programmes. But I fell asleep.
