Headache /s

I didn’t have a very good night due to a lurking headache! I’m assuming it’s a Covid job because it comes and goes for no reason. It started around bedtime last night and carried on lurking well into the early hours. Eventually, having put up with it for long enough, I took a dose of stronger paracetamol which knocked it on the head. And I described it to T in no uncertain terms, but I don’t think he was any the wiser.

My LFT test was negative this morning – Day 8 so that pleased me despite continuing congestion and the headache. And general fatigue. My sense of smell is poor and as for my ability to taste things… They do not taste as they should. For example my millionaires shortbread tasted fishy. ‘Fishy’ or just ‘off’ dominate my taste buds at the moment. Might as well give in and have fish!

I also tested T and he was negative. Decisions are now safer and easier.

T was up this morning instead of mid afternoon so we went for a wander around the lakes at Berinsfield. Unfortunately, I forgot my phone which was a shame because, they are mid preparation for summer outdoor water sports.
The water located inflatables are all or mostly inflated and ready for the season. Someone was waterskiiing. The walk we did was pleasant but far from a complete circuit. H had to be kept on the lead as per the signs. Swans were nesting in the distance and there were some baby ducklings.
T seemed to enjoy assaulting a tree though I relieved him of his branch. There is an increasing disconnect between him and reality.
The Wandering Kitchen was busy but produced tast y food. Tasting of, but not consisting of, fish.

We returned home to find my missing phone by the bed.

Someone had helpfully posted the info below on Facebook :

The purple sketch line shows us flying like crows from Moulsford to the Illis. This means that for six weeks / phase 1 / red road closure/ there will be no way for us to visit the Illis, Streatley, Goring without a 10 mile detour. It also affects our ability to get to the M4 and the A34 and meadow walks at Pangbourne and visiting Lower Basildon will be things of the past. And at extra cost. Phase 1 is a ridiculous and stupid plan, dreamt up by a thoughtless and stupid person with no concern for delivery drivers, school buses which use that route, exam pupils, emergency vehicles, local businesses etc etc. The rest of the plans are pretty naff but not quite so dire.
The next phase up Streatley Hill and the Coombe (where Ali and Dave live) is also ill conceived and unclear. Residents of this area have all too frequently found themselves cut off by remedial works at the Bull where various vehicles have demolished bits of wall in the tight turn.

The little blue/green smudge represents the length of the stretch of road closed in phase 1. The yellow sketch line represents the detour!

My disappointment (aka irritation) will take a while to subside.

Thought for the Day
