Father’s Day

Penny’s gift to T of cheese has slipped down very nicely, or the bits he has eaten have. T doesn’t know it is Father’s Day.

I had another reasonable, not very sloping , sleep. Getting up was a bit of a struggle due to extreme achiness and a general below par feeling.

Despite it being Father’s Day, T was in no mood to cooperate or come for a doggy walk. It was a sunny-cloudy day, not too warm, nor too cold. A T shirt day. H and I wandered round Castle Meadows, in the absence of cows. Or so I thought, but they were cunningly hiding under a tree. Under the watchful eyes of a red kite.

I called in at Waitrose and made the big mistake of not checking out my shopping list and so I forgot a few items. We were cooking for everyone. F and Ali had hockey, Dave was building his man shed and George was recovering from having friends for a sleep over. Or, more accurately, an ‘all nighter.’ The Ukranians were out for the day in Oxford.

So I prepared a huge dish of stuffed veg and some briam from yesterday. Lamb patties also and a huge fruit salad followed. With brandy baskets. Not the lamb, the fruit salad. Dave produced various spurious pots of out of date cream, which he ’enjoyed.’ And I produced a pristine reliable one. Which others enjoyed.

We had a very pleasant early evening. Cooking for 8 ( only 6 of us were present ) can be quite tiring! And messy. T really enjoyed his Day – getting up at about 16.00. And doing nothing to help, ever, with anything, is a good way to live.

I’m going to have to do something about his shower routine. He stands too long under running water and uses too much shower gel. I think we will go back to a bar of soap.

The Roberts family have had fun involving a fish restaurant in Devon. Following Evie and her muddy date yesterday.

I received a parcel from Amazon. Well, via Amazon, since they are not in the free gift business. It contained 4 sonic plug in fly (pest) repellers. Only time will tell how effective they are. The instructions suggest you may still see your rodents until they retire from the unequal battle. Hopefully the flies will abandon their’s quickly.

Thought for the Day
